Sai
Khao Beach, Phuket
Undeveloped, undiscovered, peaceful and quiet - Sai Khao
Beach is soon to be home to multi-million dollar villas.
SaiKhao Beach is the north end of Mai Khao Beach,
beginning somewhere around the JW Marriott and going all
the way to the north end of Phuket Island.
To get a sense of just how big this beach is, see if you
can identify the person in very middle of the photo
above, standing at the water line. This photo was taken
during high season and is typical of the area. The
beach is yours alone when you visit it. You can
literally walk for kilometers and maybe meet only one or
two people, or no one at all.
The
far north of the beach, about a kilometer before leaving
the island, is home to several Thai beach shack
restaurants. It's a great place to pick up refreshments
or a snack before driving farther north. Or to just sit
and gaze at the sea.
The
south end of SaiKhao Beach will soon feature an
exclusive villa resort and a Renaissance Resort.
Be
aware that transliteration is never 100% consistent and
you will see this beach written also as Sai Keaw and
other similar spellings.
The
restaurants at the far north end of Sai Khao Beach are
excellent - try Andaman Seafood for a special treat -
their Penang Gai (chicken) and Yam Won Son (glass noodle
salad) are excellent and restaurants in this area are
for Thais - with Thai prices. Go and enjoy!
