Nai
Yang Beach, Phuket
Nai Yang Beach is a real Thai
Beach, loaded with small beach shack restaurants and
bars, it is a favorite of the local Thais as well as
expatriates and tourists.
Most of the length of this beach
has restaurants and bars along it, but is a wide beach
lined with casaurina trees for shade, and there is
plenty of room for beach lounging and activities.
The
far south end of the bay is very shallow and becomes a
bit of a tidal flat at low tide. Head north a bit for
the best swimming.
Several resorts are located along
this beach, from quite upscale to modest bungalow. New
resorts are located at the south end of the beach due to
the availability of larger tracts of land there.
Sirinat National Park is at the
north end, stretching up to the airport. Camping is
allowed in some areas of the park.
The restaurants up and down the
central part of the beach are a great place to come for
good Thai food at very close to local prices.
Restaurants come and go - so any recommendations are
likely to go out of date - but just wander down the
beach and see what strikes your fancy. Odds are
you'll love it.
